Tomato hornworms have a black horn-like protrusion on their last segment.During the molting process, they develop eight white, V-shaped marks on each side.
These are very hard to see and they quickly become green to blend in with the garden veg. The newly hatched hornworms are yellow to white in color with no markings.Although, I have seen them larger!
